The first artist on the list is James MacKinnon, he is a world class makeup artist. James has over 31 years of film and television experience in all aspects of makeup, special effects, and design. Although, James has had many achievements something that stands out are his 5 Emmys. These Emmys were for the following films; Star Trek Discovery, Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story: “Freak Show”, “Hotel”, and “Roanoke.” In addition to his Emmy awards he also has earned three Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Artisan Awards. This talented artist served as department head or key makeup artist on over 115 projects in his career to name a few: “Fast and the Furious” franchise, “GI Joe 2″, “Priest”,“Halloween H2O”, “Parks and Recreation” and Steve Jobs Biography.
Megan Woomer Murphy is our second guest, she is a Michigan based makeup artist. Megan is an Emmy-Award winning makeup artist and licensed cosmetologist. Her specialties includes the following; commercial, production, bridal, & special event makeup Megans interest in makeup started when she was a preteen, her friends quickly noticed her talent. In order to learn more she attended cosmetology school, later becoming a MAC certified artist.
At Mac Megan learned a variety of skills including; intense training in makeup artistry, color theory, HD makeup, camouflage, contouring and period makeup. After 5 years with MAC, she moved on to Chanel and refined her artistry with their luxury makeup line. Megan now works as a freelance makeup artist. She continues to style for weddings, photo shoots, music videos, and celebrity appearances. Megan has been featured in high-end beauty publications such as: Elle Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Allure, Hour Magazine Detroit, and People Magazine.
Our latest podcast was with guest Keri Blair who grew up in Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C. She is a beauty makeup artist with over 18 years experience in the industry. Currently Kerri works for M.A.C Cosmetics as a Senior Makeup Artist on the M.A.C Pro Team. With over 15 years of working extensively in the beauty and fashion industry, Keri supports international runway shows, beauty and editorial shoots, celebrity clientele and theatre. Keri discovered M·A·C in 1993 and hasn’t looked back since.
